About the Project
The «Toolbox Political Participation» develops low-threshold learning materials for citizenship education in Switzerland’s migration society through a participatory process. Current offerings are often primarily aimed at young people with Swiss citizenship and presuppose high language proficiency. The project aims to contribute to educational equity and appreciation of diversity. Civic education should foster the competencies of all young people — regardless of nationality and educational background — and motivate them to actively participate in shaping societal processes.
The project builds on the need for further development of citizenship education offerings identified through the simulation game «SpielPolitik!» and seeks new approaches from a migration-society perspective. Experiences from EKM projects such as «Zugehörigkeit Reconsidered» serve as the basis for transformative approaches. The goal is to spark young people’s interest in politics, strengthen their capacity for critical judgement, and empower them to draw more effectively on their own experiences as a resource.
