About the Project
The research project aims to develop foundational knowledge about the characteristics and conditions for fostering argumentation and judgment in citizenship education at the lower secondary level, and to empirically evaluate the learning effectiveness of the developed teaching interventions.
The project is structured in two phases: the first phase involves the exploratory development of tasks, trialled in collaboration with teachers and classes. The second phase evaluates the effectiveness of the developed teaching interventions using a quasi-experimental design with pre/post and experimental/control group comparisons. The focus is on both the quality of students’ oral discussion contributions and their written justifications of judgments.
